What the f*** is maturity all about

One of my dear friends (ok it is Adya) had discussed this on his blog some time back. I have been trying to find a good definition of maturity ever since. It's just that the term is so vaguely used these days, and with so many connotations, that one feels lost.
I personally feel that maturity is a mix of various qualities. Having one in a greater extent doesn't necessarily make up for the absence of the other. Here's what I have come up with so far:
  1. Being a good listener. Always an enlightenment methinks.
  2. Taking defeat with grace and not sulks.
  3. Always re-thinking from a different person's perspective.
  4. Accepting people with their shortcomings. It is the toughest according to me.
  5. Not suffocating the people around you by being over-possesive
  6. Adjusting your thoughts and actions according to the situation. Beatitude amongst friends and notority in general public isn't much appreciated.
  7. Drawing the line, not only for the others but for your own actions.
  8. Being tolerant of other people's likes and dislikes. Not everyone likes the same shiz!
  9. Realizing it was your fault and accepting it. Another toughie.
This by no means is an exhaustive list, and you are welcome to add to it. If your views differ from my observation, the comments and the tagboard are all yours. And I am not trying to point anyone out. Just unloading some baggage that I've been carrying around for some time.
